DELRAY BEACH, FL – Thanks to grants received by the Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation, the Milagro Center will be able to expand two critical programs over the next 3 years.
An important aspect of cultural arts, the celebrated Milagro Music Program received a grant that will grow the music program to provide music appreciation and awareness to all the economically challenged and at-risk children and teens they serve, increase the instrument offerings, and increase the number of participating students. In addition, the Milagro Ensemble and teen band will perform more frequently throughout the community. The Milagro Music Program, which was founded in 2014, exposes children to the creative opportunities and critical thinking skills inherent in learning music, which also have proven to have a beneficial impact on academics. The program helps children identify their individual talents and gives them the foundation they need to pursue music in high school and beyond.
Additionally, the Milagro Center received funds to support the Junior Teen Leadership Program. Milagro Center’s Junior Teen Leadership Program, which was founded in 2019, is the first dedicated middle school afterschool and summer camp program in Palm Beach County. This impactful program focuses on the unique academic and social and emotional needs of underserved 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Milagro Center works closely with all local Middle Schools to provide a bridge to the current academic curriculum outlined in the Palm Beach County School District’s Strategic Plan. Currently, 40 students are enrolled in this program with a goal of growing the annual enrollment to 50. Grant funds will also be used to establish an emergency fund for Milagro’s students.
“The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation is proud to continue the partnership with Milagro Center as they provide critical services to the Delray Beach community,” says Judith Fletcher, Grants Manager of the Foundation. “The arts, academic achievement and social emotional learning programs make a tremendous impact in the lives of the children in their organization.”
The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation is truly aiding Milagro Center in their mission to bring cultural arts, living values, academic support, and mentoring to Delray Beach’s most underserved children and teens.
